In 2010 and 2013 I received the Bachelor and Master degree (cum laude) in Biomedical Engineering at University of Pisa.

I have obtained the Ph.D. in Biorobotics (2017) and I am an Assistant Professor at The BioRobotics Institute of Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, in the "Regenerative Technologies" group coordinated by Prof. Leonardo Ricotti.

My research interests regard the design and the development of biomaterials for tissue engineering, muscle cell-based actuators, and platforms for advanced medical therapies. More in the specific, my work has been focused on the development of engineered muscle tissues, approached through different fabrication techniques ranging from 2D to 3D, and on the investigation of novel strategies for pursuing articular cartilage regeneration. The development of engineered tissues often crosses with the aim is to obtain “flexible” actuators with muscle-like performances. Then, another field of research involves the investigation of smart responsive ultra-thin film or vectors for localized therapies.
