Internships
The traineeship or internship is a period of 'on-the-job' training in which to acquire knowledge and professional skills that can be spent in the labour market. It is therefore an opportunity for direct knowledge of the world of work that enables the acquisition of a specific professionalism̀ giving the opportunitỳ to experience a concrete company life situation. The traineeship does not constitute an employment relationship.
The Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna supports the curricular and non-curricular traineeship activities of students in companies, organisations and institutions in Italy and abroad. Internship activities can be carried out to complete one's training pathway, for thesis work, or after the conclusion of the study pathway for professional orientation and job placement.
Curricular and extra-curricular internships: definition and requirements
The curricular internship is an experience aimed at completing university education, may last up to 12 months and must be completed by the time the degree is awarded.
The curricular traineeships activated by the School are aimed at students of the Ordinary Courses (up to the attainment of the Licence Diploma), University Master's Courses and PhD Courses.
An extra-curricular internship is an experience aimed at creating direct contact with the host company or institution in order to foster the enrichment of knowledge, the acquisition of professional skills and job placement. It can be carried out within 12 months of obtaining the degree. The duration, generally a maximum of 6/12 months, varies according to the region where the institution/enterprise is based. The host organisation is required to pay the trainee an attendance allowance (reimbursement of expenses), the amount of which varies according to the region in which the organisation/business is based.
