The exoskeleton of the future is most certainly a smart wearable device that recognizes the loss of balance and prevents the elderly from falling, if you look at the research led by Sant’Anna School Biorobotics Institute and the current development of the wearable machines normally used to assist or enhance regular movement. The smart and light-weight exoskeleton will participate in the “Garage Digitalia” Rome event sponsored by the Italy’s Foreign Press Association at 6.30 pm on November 9th.
Simona Crea, a researcher at the Sant’Anna School Biorobotics Institute, will present the Active Pelvis Orthosis (APO), an exoskeleton worn from the waist down developed by researchers at Sant’Anna School - Pisa and EPFL (Ecole polytechnique fédérale) – Lausanne.
The Italy’s Foreign Press Association (founded in 1912) offers support and assistance to foreign newspaper correspondents in Italy. Participants of the meeting in Rome on November 9th include: Simone Ungaro (Movendo Technology) giving his presentation on the “Physiotherapist Robot”; Filippo Galanti and Simone Fiorenti (e-novia) who will present the “Pony Express Robot”; Fanny Ficuciello and Bruno Siciliano (Prisma Lab) who will present a 3D printable robotic hand.
“Garage Digitalia” consists of 5 meetings dedicated to innovation and research activities. The initiative aims to develop a deep knowledge of the research projects developed in Italy and tell about the bright scientists who are changing our lives. Scientists and startuppers will give their 15 minutes presentation and answer the foreign newspaper correspondents’ questions.
