The highly anticipated event "M'Illumino di Meno" returns once again. This National Day against Energy Waste, established by the Italian Parliament under Law 34/2022, was conceived twenty years ago by Caterpillar, a historic radio program on Rai Radio 2. The initiative aims to raise public awareness about the importance of energy conservation and environmental protection, encouraging more conscious and sustainable behaviors.

The 2025 edition introduces a significant change: organizers have decided to expand the scope of the event with an extra-large format. Instead of focusing solely on the traditional date of February 16, the initiative will extend until February 21, providing more time and opportunities to promote activities and events dedicated to the fight against waste. This year's focus is on a particularly urgent issue: energy waste in the fast fashion sector. The fashion industry is among the most environmentally impactful, significantly contributing to resource consumption, CO2 emissions, and textile waste, which is often difficult to dispose of sustainably.

To emphasize the importance of raising awareness on these issues, the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies is taking part in the initiative with a symbolic yet powerful act: the switching off of the lights of its central complex in Piazza Martiri della Libertà. This will take place on February 21, 2025, at 6:30 PM, simultaneously with the Scuola Normale Superiore, the University of Pisa, and the Municipality of Pisa.

This symbolic blackout serves as an invitation to reflect on the value of energy and the impact of our daily consumption habits, not only in terms of electricity but also in our purchasing choices and consumption patterns. Every action, no matter how small, can help reduce environmental impact and promote a more sustainable future.
