Starting of the Master's Course in ‘Patient Care in the area of cardiology, cardiac anaesthesiology and cardiac surgery’ under the patronage of the Italian Society of Cardiology and the National Association of Hospital Cardiologists

An innovative first-level university master's degree promoted by the Sant'Anna School in partnership with Monasterio, dedicated to the health care professions, offering interdisciplinary and interactive training to improve skills and knowledge in the clinical management of cardiovascular pathologies: this is the new first-level university master's degree course in ‘Patient Care in the areas of cardiology, cardiacanaesthesiology and cardiac surgery’ covering the patient's entire life span, from theneonatal age to the ‘great elderly’.
The deadline for submitting applications has been postponed to Thursday 6 February. The start of teaching activities is set for March.
The first-level university master's degree is designed for healthcare professionals who intend to consolidate and certify their skills in the management of people with cardiovascular pathologies and has received the patronage of the Italian Society of Cardiology and the National Association of Hospital Cardiologists. Graduates in the following disciplines are eligible to apply: Nursing and Midwifery Health Professions, Rehabilitation Health Professions-Physiotherapy, Technical Health Professions, Rehabilitation Health Professions. The programme will accompany professionals along all the steps of the care pathway of the patient, both paediatric and adult, delving into care, ethical, social and sustainability aspects. Participants will acquire tools and methodologies to respond in a transversal and targeted manner to patients' needs, with a special focus on the practical and theoretical aspects that characterise the field of cardiology, cardiac anaesthesiology and cardiac surgery.
The new university Master's degree also meets the need for certification of specific skills for healthcare professionals working in thecardiovascular field. Scientific societies worldwide have long stressed the importance of a curriculum with adequate specialisation, and this training course is a concrete response to guarantee high standards of care and professionalism. Through a programme that integrates theory and practice, with internships at Monasterio and in sister hospitals in Italy, participants will be able to acquire up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge in line with the needs of patients and the organisation of the healthcare sector.

The idea of putting our experience and expertise to use has always been a dream. Today, with the Sant'Anna School, we have a specialised pathway with integrated training between profiles, on the entire clinical and care pathway, from the birth of the newborn with congenital heart disease, to theadult with other pathologies. Specific settings and critical areas of our hospitals will host trainees for internships to complete a training course that enhances skills and looks to the future based on new tools and communication methods to be ‘closer “to our little and big patients and their loved ones”.
