GROWINPRO, the project coordinated by the Institute of Economics of the Sant'Anna School, receives an excellent rating in the European Commission's evaluation
Over 120 working papers, 50 articles and 60.000 people reached. "GROWINPRO is in all probability one of the most important H2020 projects"
The GROWINPRO project, coordinated by the Institute of Economics of the Sant'Anna School and funded by the European Union, receives a rating of excellence from the European Commission in its recent evaluation, which emphasizes that the activity "has produced excellent results along with significant immediate or potential impact".
GROWINPRO, which started in January 2019 and ends in June 2022, sees the coordination of Andrea Roventini, professor of Political Economy at the Institute of Economics of the Sant'Anna School, and brings together researchers and professionals from 14 research units belonging to countries in the European Union and the United Kingdom. "It is to be remarkable how such a heterogeneous group of partners, which also included statistical institutes, was so skillfully and effectively managed in spite of COVID-19," the evaluation reads. In addition, "it is particularly noteworthy how the dissemination of GROWINPRO results was continuously improved, including the possibility of performing online simulations".
During the entire duration of the project, which continued for 42 months, more than 120 Working Papers, 50 articles in prestigious international scientific journals, 4 Policy Briefs and 5 videos were published. In addition, a Work Package dedicated exclusively to the Covid-19 pandemic was added, and an innovative "online policy simulator" was released. Regarding dissemination, more than 60,000 people received updates on the achievements of GROWINPRO and the activities of "stakeholders" involved in the initiative.
This is the reason why the European Commission in its evaluation report of the project stated that "GROWINPRO has been fundamental under the Horizon 2020 program. The results of the macro, meso and micro analyses, together with the focus on dissemination in academia with an exceptionally high number of articles in peer reviewed journals, exploitation of the results with the possibility to simulate different model results online, and policy impact with numerous presentations at conferences, in the European Parliament, on TV programs and social media activities are very significant”. “It follows," the Commission concludes, that, "GROWINPRO is in all probability one of the most important H2020 projects".
"I am very satisfied with the result of the evaluation", says Giovanni Dosi, vice-coordinator of the project and professor of Political Economy at the Institute of Economics of the Sant'Anna School, "GROWINPRO produced excellent scientific results that consolidated at the European Union the successes of the H2020 ISIGrowth project that I had previously led". According to Andrea Roventini, project coordinator, "the excellent evaluation obtained by the Commission reflects first and foremost the excellent scientific and coordination work done by all members of the Institute of Economics, as well as the work of the other 13 partners." "I am very happy with the work done", Andrea Roventini continues, "I think our research activity has offered the European Union a new economic policy agenda to promote innovation and boost sustainable and inclusive economic growth".
