The MioPRO2 project continues the activities of the MioPRO project (under the 2019-2022 research programme), with the aim of evolving the proof-of-concept of a new human-machine interface for the control of prostheses. The research strategy is based on the in vitro creation of engineered, contractile 3D muscle tissues using the patient's own stem cells, and their subsequent connection to the amputee's residual peripheral nerves, to realise a new type of Regenerative Peripheral Nerve Interfaces (RPNIs).
