Honors Courses

The admission to the courses of the Sant'Anna School takes place through the passing of a public competition.

Honors Students are simultaneously enrolled at the University of Pisa and at the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies. They attend courses at both Institutions. The School guarantees a high-level education through seminars, laboratories, language courses and other valuable curricular activities. The School offers honours students the following services free of charge: accommodation on campus, canteen service, use of modern scientific laboratories and library, use of sports equipment and special spaces for cultural and recreational activities.

The Courses 

  • First-level Honor Courses for students who must have achieved an academic qualification, in the 2022/23 academic year, granting them access to Degree Courses at Italian universities. For Medical Sciences is possible to access to the II and III year.
  • Second-level Honor Courses for students with a Bachelor of Science or who are in process of graduating.

Access to courses 

You can access the First-level Honor Courses for Economic and Managerial Sciences, Legal Sciences and Political Sciences for the Social Sciences, for Industrial and Information Engineering, Medical Sciences and Agricultural Sciences and Plant Biotechnologies for the Experimental Sciences. At the end of the three-year period, students are admitted to the Second-level Courses after passing an intermediate assessment test. This test is not foreseen for the areas of Law and Medicine (single-cycle degree courses).

You can access for admission to the following Second-level Honor Courses activated by the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna in agreement with other universities: MSc degree in Economics, MSc degree in Molecular Biotechnology and MSc degree in Bionics in agreement with the University of Pisa; MSc degree in Innovation Management and MSc degree in International Security Studies in agreement with the University of Trento.

The Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna is a public and free university institution: admission to the Honour Courses does not require enrollment fees, only individual commitment and motivation to complete a path of excellence. Students, once they have passed the admission competition, receive a scholarship that includes free room and board in the School's residential facilities, an integrative didactic contribution and contributions for study and training stays in Italy and abroad (Erasmus, summer schools, internships in research laboratories or public institutions, etc.).
