I am currently a PhD student in Economics at Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna di Pisa (Italy) and a PhD Visiting Fellow at UNU-MERIT (Netherlands). I hold a master's degree in Economics, Policies, and Management of Innovation from the Metropolitan Autonomous University (Mexico) and a bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Matanzas, Cuba.
Before joining Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna di Pisa, I served as a Fellow Researcher at the Research Center of the World Economy (CIEM-Cuba) starting in 2010 and an Associate Professor at the University of Havana, where I taught International Economic Relations. In 2018, I was elected as a young associate of the Cuban Academy of Sciences (ACC).
My primary areas of expertise are in the Economics of Innovation and International Political Economy. As a consultant, I have had the opportunity to collaborate on several international projects with United Nations agencies such as UNIDO, ECLAC, and UNDP.
At this moment my main focus of research is about Knowledge, Industrial Policies and Structural Change, studying the experience of Cuban biotechnology.
